Gotta catch—and eat!—'em all.

I was in fourth grade when Pokemon cards first became available in the United States. In fact, I distinctly remember trading almost all of my cards with one of my classmates to get a rare holographic Charizard for my collection.

We did this negotiation under the cover of our desks during a math lesson. Soon after, my school actually banned Pokemon cards from school. They said that they had become too distracting. I can’t say that this ban was directly related to my Charizard acquisition—but I can’t refute it, either.

All that to say Pokemon has been incredibly popular for as long as I can remember. I love seeing new generations of kids get excited about the characters, from Pikachu to Snorlax and everyone in between. So when I saw that Goldfish was releasing a brand-new line of Pokemon crackers, I knew I had to collect ’em all.

What are the new Goldfish Pokemon crackers?

I can’t believe that these haven’t been made before, but here we are at Pokemon’s 30th anniversary with new crackers to celebrate. At first I thought that they would just be regular Goldfish in limited-edition packaging, but it’s actually so much cooler than that. These crackers are actually shaped like Pokemon! There are already so many Goldfish flavors, and I love the idea of changing the shape instead.

There are four varieties available: Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur. Pokemon fans will know that these are the “starter” Pokemon that you choose from when you begin playing the video game. Each of the packages features one of the character on the front of the bag, and inside are little crackers shaped like them (as well as classic Goldfish crackers).

“As one of our biggest collaborations yet, this release combines the excitement of Pokemon that many parents grew up with—now reimagined for snack time with their kids,” says Mike Fanelli, senior director at Goldfish.

This is the first time that Goldfish has ever released single-color varieties of its snack. Pikachu is yellow, Squirtle is blue, Bulbasaur is green and Charmander is that classic Goldfish orange. It’s such a cute little detail, and I’m obsessed. It makes me want to dump some of every package into a bowl to make a very colorful, Goldfish-only homemade snack mix.

When will the Goldfish Pokemon crackers be available?

These Pokemon Goldfish crackers are rolling out to stores this month, so they might have already hit shelves near you. There is one caveat: The Pikachu variety is exclusively available at Walmart and Target. So if you’re a Pikachu fan, head to those stores to collect your favorite yellow friend. The other three Pokemon will be available at retailers nationwide. No Pokeballs required!
