While we rearrange our rankings every once in a while to accommodate new testing, one blanket holds strong as our “best splurge” option: The Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket. Not only is it an editor favorite, but it’s also one of our longtime cozy gifting MVPs—and for good reason. It’s weighty, luxurious and instantly calming. “Faux fur works especially well right now because people are looking for ways to make their homes feel warmer, more layered and more comfortable without necessarily redesigning an entire room,” says Founder and Principal Designer for AG Interiors Ayanna Govan. “A throw blanket is an easy way to introduce texture, and faux fur gives you a lot of visual impact. It can soften a very clean or modern space, make a bedroom feel more luxurious, or simply make a sofa feel more inviting.”
That said, the slightly surprising $200-something price tag certainly puts the Cuddle blanket squarely in the “splurge” category. When we saw that the blanket brand Bedsure released what looks like a nearly identical throw at nearly a third of the price, we just had to see how it compared to the classic Cozy Earth option. I tested both bubble faux fur blankets firsthand, side-by-side, to see how they stack up. I lived with them, snuggled up with them and gathered insights from my cozy-loving family to find out which of these beautiful, bubbly blankets gives the best bang for your buck.
The Splurge: Cozy Earth Bubble Blanket
Cozy Earth Bubble Cuddle Blanket
Voted the “best overall” option in our hunt for the best faux fur blankets, the Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket has little to prove. The medium-sized version of this huggable coverlet measures at 60×50 inches, giving it plenty of surface area to snuggle up in. There’s also an oversized option that’s perfect for sharing at 80×60 inches. It comes in a handful of colors, including cream, light grey, walnut, tide and blossom. The latter two shades are gorgeous pastels, whereas the first three are more natural hues.
We have an entire review dedicated to singing the praises of this pricey throw. Three different Taste of Home shopping editors own different versions of the Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket—including both the bubble and super plush picks—and all three of us are obsessed. And that’s not just because it’s trendy (which it is)—it’s because of the attention to quality.
Quality
Each “bubble” of the original bubble blanket is pleasantly plush, giving the entire blanket a nice visual texture. For folks feeling extra bubbly, there’s now also a “double bubble” blanket for even more textured fun. All Cuddle blankets have a knife-edge finish, which means no stray strings or detectable seams.
Cozy Earth Cuddle blankets also receive a Standard 100 rating by OEKO-TEX, meaning that they’re free from legally regulated chemicals and known harmful unregulated chemicals. While the blankets are made from 100% polyester—it is faux fur, after all—stroking the silky and densely-packed fibers feels like petting a real rabbit.
“Right out of the bag, I was genuinely shocked by how soft the fabric was. I joked to my husband that it felt like chinchilla fur—or being enrobed in a giant Jellycat,” says Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski of her Cuddle blanket.” It’s truly one of the softest things I’ve ever touched.”
Ayanna notes that while a good-quality faux fur blanket does not need to be extremely heavy, it should have enough substance to drape well over a bed or sofa instead of looking flat. The Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket offers not only good draping, but also an overall weightiness akin to a cozy coverlet or quilt.
As someone with anxiety, the weight of the blanket is one of my favorite aspects. It envelops me without feeling like it’s pulling down or restricting movement like some weighted blankets do. Because the weight comes from the soft, dense fur and there’s no stretch to the blanket, it feels like a big hug rather than a blanket full of beads. Even though I’ve tested several weighted blankets over the years, I haven’t felt anything quite like this.
Price
Now we’re getting to the sticking point—the price. At $228 for the regular throw and $278 for the oversized version, it isn’t cheap. That said, Cozy Earth frequently runs sales of 20% off or more, so it’s not uncommon to see the blanket for under $200 during major sales holidays like Black Friday or Memorial Day. If that’s not enough of a hint, I’ll go ahead and say it: this blanket makes a show-stopping gift.
Additionally, customers also receive a 10-year warranty with their purchase, which is always a welcome prospect. The throw also comes complete with all the luxury touches you’d expect from Cozy Earth, including a tote for off-season storage. This makes it not only a worthwhile splurge for self care, but also a cozy gift for homebodies.

The Steal: Bedsure Bubble Blanket
Bedsure Bubble Faux Fur Blanket
The Bedsure Bubble blanket is a newcomer to our faux fur blanket lineup.
Available in 11 colors—plus throw, throw XL and twin sizes—this stylish pick offers far more shade and coverage options than the original Cozy Earth blanket. I ordered the Bedsure blanket in the same size and color as my Cozy Earth blanket for the fairest comparison.
Upon receiving the blanket, I was a bit surprised. Despite the plump, fluffy look of the online photos, the box the blanket arrived in was much smaller than the box the Cozy Earth blanket came in. Inside the box, the Bedsure blanket was in a vacuum-sealed bag—sans storage tote, unfortunately. Once released from its plastic prison, it fluffed up a bit and looked much more like the Cozy Earth blanket. However, there were a few obvious differences.
Quality
First, the heft. According to my measurements, the Cozy Earth blanket weighs in at just over six pounds, giving it a nice, weighted feel. The Bedsure blanket, on the other hand, offers only about three pounds of fluff, making it substantially smaller in volume. The “bubbles” are also not quite as plump and defined as they are on the Cozy Earth version—and, disappointingly, they are only on one side. Putting the two side-by-side, it’s clear that the Cozy Earth blanket offers far more loft.
In addition to the difference in weight, the Bedsure blanket also doesn’t have the same clean edges as the Cozy Earth version. There were a few loose threads I had to snip off, which was rather disappointing for an $80 throw. Additionally, I’d say the faux fur is closer to a fuzzy sherpa feel, rather than the silky softness of the Cozy Earth option. It’s also not nearly as dense, which is part of why it weighs substantially less.
Ayanna notes that these might all be signs of a lower quality faux fur blanket. According to her, the stitching, density, backing, finishing and care instructions often tell you quite a bit about the overall quality of the product.
“I would avoid faux fur that has an obvious shine, sparse fibers or a backing that becomes visible very easily. Those are usually the things that make faux fur read as inexpensive,” she says. “The backing and finishing matter too. A beautiful surface fabric can still feel inexpensive if the underside is thin or the edges are poorly constructed.”
Price
While the blanket listed on the website sits at around $80—on sale from $131, supposedly—the Amazon page price history shows that the $80 price point is closer to the everyday price. Boasting a near-identical look to our coveted Cozy Earth blanket but retailing at around a third of the price, it’s a tempting spend for folks on a budget. That said, I’d liken this blanket much more to a traditional lightweight throw rather than a cuddly cozy cocoon like the Cozy Earth Bubble blanket.

The Bottom Line: Cozy Earth vs. Bedsure
I’m a budgeter through and through. Often (like in the case of ice makers) I don’t find that a splurge is all-out better than the steal. This goes doubly so when one option retails for nearly three times as much as the other. However, I can comfortably say that the Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket is worth the price. Whereas the Bedsure blanket is a nice throw blanket, the Cozy Earth Cuddle blanket is something else entirely—it’s a luxury experience.
To drive my point home, here’s another perspective: my husband emphatically sang the praises of the cheaper Bedsure blanket—until he tried the Cozy Earth blanket. Now, he calls the Bedsure blanket the “imitation blanket.” I’m not saying the Bedsure blanket isn’t cozy and comforting. It is. It’s soft and pleasant and has its place as a lightweight throw that looks really nice draped over the couch. But in terms of substance, it just doesn’t deliver the same glorious, weighty feel. That said, whether it’s a good inexpensive alternative really comes down to what you’re looking for in a blanket.
“I always encourage clients to think about where and how the blanket will actually be used,” says Ayanna. “Something styled at the end of a guest-room bed can prioritize appearance, while a blanket that will live on the family-room sofa needs to stand up to frequent use and cleaning.”
Folks looking for a faux-fur bubble blanket for aesthetics might be fine settling for the Bedsure blanket. However, those seeking the snuggle-up coziness of the Cozy Earth faux-fur Cuddle blanket should still absolutely splurge. There’s just no comparison in terms of sheer quality. And if you’re like me and add in a Kova Pit, you may never leave your living room. Just make sure you know how to properly store your luxe blanket for summertime!
