Noodles & Company Brought Back This Fan-Favorite Menu Item From 1995
It's bold, spicy and back on the menu after a lengthy hiatus.
Who doesn’t love a big bowl of noodles? Whether you’re feeling happy or sad or you’re carb loading for a race or you simply need a quick dinner, noodles will never disappoint.
And the easiest place to grab a bowl o’ noodles for lunch is probably Noodles & Company. The fast-casual chain has been around since 1995, when it got its start in Denver, Colorado. Now, there are almost 500 locations serving up endless amounts of Basil Pesto Cavatappi, Japanese Pan Noodles and Pasta Fresca.
But there is one dish from that original 1995 menu that has been on hiatus since 2015. Fans have been lamenting its loss for over a decade now. A lot of them keep trying to make a copycat version of the dish’s sauce, but to no avail. And for those fans, I have great news: The elusive—and delicious—Indonesian Chicken Peanut Saute is back at Noodles & Company!
What is Noodles & Company’s Indonesian Chicken Peanut Saute?

Since its inception, Noodles has been committed to highlighting globally-inspired flavor profiles through its noodle dishes. This saute is one of them, and I had a chance to try it at my local Noodles restaurant.
It’s the spiciest item on the Noodles & Company menu, but the heat builds steadily. I never found it overpowering. In fact, as someone who tends to order creamier pasta dishes at Noodles (like my beloved Pesto Cavatappi!), I was really impressed.
When I first dug into the dish, I was worried that the noodles might be a little dry, but once I stirred it up, I found that the creamy peanut sauce coated the noodles well. Aside from the noodles, it’s filled with plenty of red and green cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped peanuts, cilantro, broccoli and chicken. It’s served with a lime wedge, which gives it a really nice dash of brightness.
How long will the Indonesian Chicken Peanut Saute be back on menus?
Sadly, this delicious dish is only returning for a limited time to participating Noodles & Company locations nationwide. It’s joining another new, limited-edition offering: Chili Garlic Ramen. Both dishes are part of the chain’s Asian noodle lineup, and I genuinely can’t wait to try them all. If you enjoy these flavor profiles or are simply looking to try something new for lunch this week, I would definitely give it a go. This is a $12 entree that eats like a much fancier meal, and I’m glad that it’s back!
