I grew up in California, and going to Disneyland was something my family did fairly often. Trips were always a little hectic, a little unpredictable and typically planned around what we all wanted to eat as much as anything else. One thing was for sure: At some point, usually when the heat started to feel like too much, I was getting a Dole Whip—often right after ducking into the Enchanted Tiki Room for a few minutes of air conditioning and mechanical singing birds.
Disneyland sells an impressive lineup of delicious treats, like sugary churros, comically large turkey legs, and popcorn that magically tastes better inside the gates, but Dole Whip has always been my favorite. It’s cold, bright and just tangy enough to cut through everything else. It feels like a restful oasis in the middle of a chaotic day.
I’ve tried to recreate Dole Whip at home and while I’ve gotten close, it never quite lands the same way. So when I realized Dole Whip had made its way into the freezer aisle—not just the pineapple, but also mango and a new Tropical Guava Passion flavor—I was shocked I hadn’t noticed it sooner. Of course, I had to try them all, but guava was the one that made me pause. It’s not a flavor you see everywhere, and certainly not like this.
I didn’t expect to fall for it this hard, but this guava Dole Whip was one of my top new grocery store picks and easily earned a Taste of Home Award.
Dole Whip: Tropical Guava Passion
I Ate the Entire Pint for Breakfast

Even though Dole Whip has been in stores since 2023, with pineapple and mango flavors already in the mix, seeing Dole Whip at the grocery store still feels a little disorienting at first, but in the best way. It’s so tied to the Magic Kingdom in my head that it doesn’t quite register as something you can just pick up in the freezer aisle.
Tropical Guava Passion is the latest addition to the lineup of flavors, which are all dairy-free, and it’s the one that stood out to me. The flavor is a mix of guava, pineapple and passion fruit, and you can taste all three balanced with each other. The guava comes first—slightly floral, a little tangy—and then the passion fruit shows up on the back end, just enough to keep the flavor from flattening out. Overall, it’s not as sharp as the classic pineapple Dole Whip; it’s rounder, and a little calmer, but still bright enough that you don’t lose interest halfway through.
Once the Dole Whip softens a little, the texture is light and smooth, somewhere between soft-serve and sorbet. It’s not icy like a water ice but it doesn’t feel heavy or overly creamy, either. Each spoonful melts cleanly and holds that airy quality throughout. I went back in for another scoop to take notes for this article, and somehow ended up eating the entire pint at 9 a.m., which was not the plan but feels like useful data.
It may not be absolutely identical to the version in Disney parks, but it feels every bit as satisfying—even without the singing birds.
Where to Buy Guava Dole Whip
I found the Tropical Guava Passion Dole Whip at my local Safeway, mixed in with the rest of the frozen desserts. The guava was actually out of stock at my store for a few weeks, which tells you everything you need to know about how fast it’s moving.
It’s now available at several retailers nationwide, including Albertsons stores (like Safeway), Target, Publix, Harris Teeter, Stop & Shop and Hannaford. There’s also a limited-time seasonal return to Costco, depending on the location. Availability varies by store, so be sure to grab one when you see it!
