All Day Mini vs. Assembly Lunchbox
The All Day Mini Lunch Box has been our go-to for nearly a year. It’s compact, lightweight and surprisingly durable, making it especially great for kids (and anyone who prefers a smaller lunch bag).
My toddler has carried it around without any trouble (and often treats it like a purse, thanks to the long shoulder strap). And despite countless messy car rides, trips in the bottom of the wagon and pool bag, and being dragged across kitchen floors, it’s still going strong.
What we love about the All Day Mini: The crush-resistant molded EVA shell protects sandwiches, chips and snacks from getting squished, while the BPA-free, food-grade liner helps keep food fresh and is easy to wipe clean. The wide-open design makes packing and unpacking easy, and the interior mesh pocket is handy for an ice pack, utensils or a snack. The top handle and adjustable shoulder strap offer two carrying options, and it comes in more than ten stylish colors.
It weighs just 0.71 pounds and measures 10.23 x 3.74 x 6.89 inches. Plus, there’s the All Day Midi Lunch Box, which offers the same design in a larger 11.81 x 3.74 x 7.88-inch size.
The new Assembly Lunchbox is a little different. Instead of a hard shell, it features a soft-sided design with traditional foam insulation and a food-grade liner that also wipes clean quickly. I find it a little roomier than the All Day Mini (8.27 x 10.63 x 4.53 inches), making it my choice when I need to pack larger lunches or an extra snack. It also omits the shoulder strap in favor of a sturdy top handle, and it comes in nine color options.
The Assembly Lunchbox has a few standout features, including an exterior mesh pocket sized for Stanley water bottles up to 24 ounces, a matching Assembly Backpack for a coordinated back-to-school set and an exterior clip for attaching the lunch box to a backpack. It also comes at a lower price point than the All Day Mini. The tradeoff? Because it’s soft-sided, it won’t protect delicate foods quite as well.
After testing both, the biggest difference comes down to structure. The All Day Mini is the better pick if you want a crush-resistant lunch box that protects fragile foods, offers hands-free carrying with the shoulder strap and has a premium cooler-style design that’s built to last. The Assembly Lunchbox is a better fit if you need more packing space, a dedicated water bottle pocket, an easy way to clip your lunch to a backpack or a more budget-friendly option.
Both lunch boxes are very easy to wipe clean on the inside. After almost a year of use, our All Day Mini has picked up a few permanent scuffs and stains on the outside, but it’s proven exceptionally durable. We’ve only been testing the Assembly Lunchbox for about a week, but its sturdy construction and wipe-clean interior suggest it’ll be just as easy for everyday school lunches.
