The Girl Scouts' first allergy-free cookie has finally arrived. I got an early taste test, and now I can't wait for Girl Scout cookie season.
I adore the Girl Scouts for a lot of reasons—community service, creating new skills and, of course, their ultra delicious cookies. As every new year begins, I look forward to the rush of Girl Scout cookie purchases. I’m able to support my local troops and treat my sweet tooth at the same time. It’s a total win-win.
Last year, I was lucky enough to score a first taste of the Exploremores, the rocky road-inspired cookie. And this year, I got another early taste for the 2027 cookie. You never know when your new favorite sweet treat is going to round the corner and take your top spot. Especially when it comes to Girl Scout cookies. This year’s new flavor has serious potential to outrank some of my favorites.
What are the newest Girl Scout cookies?
The newest addition to the Girl Scout cookie line is the Sparkable. Officially the brand’s first allergy-free cookie, the Sparkable is an oatmeal-based cookie with chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles. The Girl Scouts heard the calls of their community and wanted to create something everyone could enjoy. It’s gluten-free, nut-free and vegan.
And to go with these sparkling new cookies, the Girl Scouts also dropped a little something for our furry friends: Patch Pals. These blueberry muffin-flavored treats were made just for our four-legged friends and feature four different Girl Scout patch designs. How sweet!
How do the Girl Scout Sparkables taste?
At first glance, these cookies are pretty small. But then again, I suppose they’re perfect for little hands. Now, I have to preface that I am a massive fan of all things oatmeal. Especially oatmeal cookies. So, maybe I’m biased, but I stand by my opinion nonetheless. The cookie itself isn’t too flashy. While the sprinkles are present, I wish they stood out a bit more in the dough. However, the taste stands the test of time. The oatmeal is crunchy but not too crunchy. It’s got a distinct cinnamon flavor that mixes extremely well with the bursts of sweetness from the chocolate chips. And, as they always do, the sprinkles up the ante just enough.
The sugar content sits at a solid middle ground. It’s sweet enough to delight the taste buds without being overwhelming. I could easily pop three or four of these in one sitting! If you’re someone who tends to avoid vegan and gluten-free desserts, I implore you to give this one a shot. It definitely deserves a spot on our favorite allergy-friendly snacks list.
When can I get Girl Scout Sparkables cookies?
Sparkables will be available exclusively through online ordering as soon as January 12, 2027, or whenever your local Girl Scout troops begin selling cookies.
