There is truly no end to the ways that you can customize an order at Chipotle. Whether you like a burrito, bowl or salad—or maybe you change it up every time—it’s one of the most accommodating menus on the market.
When I was a vegetarian, I loved going to Chipotle because it meant I didn’t have to compromise on flavor. Now that I’m eating meat again, I am definitely someone who orders based on vibes. If a fresh tray of adobo chicken just landed in the line, that’s probably what I’m going to have. Or maybe I have a real hankering for carnitas, so I load up on that.
But my absolute favorite protein is one that isn’t always on the menu. So I do a little happy dance when it’s back in Chipotle restaurants—let’s just say I’ve been dancing ever since I heard this news.
Which protein is coming back to Chipotle?
The chipotle honey chicken is back! If you’re a fan of the “swicy” trend, then you will love this protein. It’s definitely got a big kick of spice from the chipotle pepper marinade, but it’s the sweetness from the honey that really makes it stand out.
In fact, this protein is so good that even my dog jumped up to my dining room table to sniff around and check it out. She’s normally a very good girl and hasn’t jumped up on the table since she was a puppy—that’s the power of the chipotle honey chicken!
Personally, I love just how saucy this chicken is. I’m definitely one to load up my bowls with sauces, whether it’s salsas or sour cream, and so I appreciate this added layer of texture and moisture. I think it helps keep everything from getting too dry in the fridge overnight when I want to enjoy half now and half for lunch the next day.
When will it be available?
The chipotle honey chicken will drop at participating Chipotle restaurants nationwide on April 28. There’s no word on how long it will stick around, but if you’re a fan, I would go get it as soon as possible. And if you haven’t had the pleasure of trying it in the past, now’s your chance!
