This easy-to-make pina colada dip features instant pudding, frozen whipped topping, pineapple-flavored yogurt and milk. All that's missing is the little umbrella and views of the ocean!

There’s nothing quite like sipping a tropical drink in the sand (or at least pretending you’re at the beach). But instead of sipping island flavors, we’ve made them dippable! This dreamy pina colada dip recipe, made with coconut cream pudding, pineapple yogurt and whipped topping, tastes just like a velvety-smooth pina colada cocktail. Top it with coconut flakes and cherries, and then scoop it up with fresh pineapple wedges, with crunchy vanilla wafers or by the spoonful (we won’t judge!). It’s perfect for sharing at summer potlucks and backyard barbecues, or anytime you want to pretend you’re on an island getaway in the Caribbean.

Pina Colada Dip Ingredients

  • Milk: Cold 2% milk is part of the creamy base. For even more coconut flavor, use coconut milk instead.
  • Pineapple yogurt: Pineapple yogurt adds a tropical flavor to the dip. Choose a yogurt with real pineapple pieces rather than just pineapple flavor. If you can’t find pineapple yogurt, you could substitute vanilla yogurt and add up to 1 cup of pineapple tidbits to the dip.
  • Instant coconut cream pudding mix: Instant coconut cream pudding mix makes this a velvety smooth dip. Make sure to use instant pudding, not the cook-and-serve variety.
  • Frozen whipped topping: Frozen whipped topping has stabilizers that won’t melt the way whipped cream does. To thaw the whipped topping, place it in the refrigerator at least four hours before you intend to make the dip.
  • Optional toppings: Before serving, top the dip with toasted unsweetened coconut flakes and maraschino cherries (candied cherries would be fun too). Toasting the coconut enhances its flavor; try one of these easy techniques to toast coconut flakes to perfection.
  • Dippers: Fresh pineapple wedges and vanilla wafers are perfect accompaniments to pina colada dip.

Directions

Step 1: Make the dip and chill

In a large bowl, whisk the milk, yogurt and pudding mix for two minutes (the mixture will be thick). Fold in the whipped topping. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours.

Step 2: Top and serve

If desired, top the dip with toasted unsweetened coconut flakes and cherries before serving. Serve with pineapple and vanilla wafers.

Pina Colada Dip Variations

  • Add a little rum: Add 1 teaspoon of rum extract to enhance this dip’s tropical flavor. Or, if it’s an adults-only affair, stir in the real deal. These are some of our favorite rum brands.
  • Make it with heavy cream: You can replace the frozen whipped topping with homemade whipped cream if you prefer. You will need 3 cups of whipped cream to replace an 8-ounce container of frozen whipped topping; to make this amount, you’ll need 1-1/2 cups of heavy cream.

How to Store Pina Colada Dip

Store leftover pina colada dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last up to five days. Give the dip a good stir before serving leftovers to help redistribute all the flavors.
