Tasty, tangy, sour and sweet—is there a more perfect food than pickles? Not only do these crunchy cucumbers taste great on their own, but popping your favorite flavors into a pickle-centric recipe yields some seriously dill-icious dishes. But pickles from the grocery store are only the tip of this tangy iceberg. Searching for new flavors led us to the Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club, which promises a shipment of premium pickles each month.
“The great thing about a pickle club is that curated selections arrive right at your door,” says pickle expert and owner of Twice as Tasty, Julie Laing. “Like a wine club or CSA farm subscription, you won’t know exactly what you’re getting when you open the box, but that’s part of the adventure. You might sample pickles you’ve never encountered before, with different spices and vinegars and levels of sweet and heat.”
Here at Taste of Home, we consider ourselves experts on the topic of gift clubs. Over the years, we’ve tested more than 100 food subscription boxes, spanning everything from jerky to fresh fruit. To see whether this pickle subscription is the perfect gift for fans of these sour snacks, we enlisted product tester Anna Lane’s taste buds. Three months and six jars of pickles later, here are her thoughts.
Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club
Sweet, sour or spicy? This pickle of the month club delivers delicious, all-natural pickles from specialty and award-winning producers.
What is the Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club?
A pickle of the month club (also called a “pickle subscription”) is a pickle delivery service that operates much like a coffee subscription. Each month, the Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club ships a box of premium pickles right to the recipient’s door. But these aren’t just your average pickles. Each box contains two jars of small-batch, premium picks from specialty and award-winning producers. As a bonus, they’re also made with all-natural ingredients.

This premium pickle of the month club offers several shipping options. Customers choose from a three-month, seasonal (four-month), six-month or 12-month subscription. From there, they can pick whether they want to receive their package every month or every other month. There’s even the option to select what month shipments should start. From there, subscribers choose between payment upfront or a monthly service charge.
In addition to two full-sized jars of gourmet pickles, each box arrives with a charming “newsletter” with in-depth intros to the pickles that are included in that month’s package. There’s also a coupon for future Amazing Clubs orders. As with other Amazing Clubs subscriptions, each purchase comes with a “They’ll Love It” guarantee. Customers can also add a personalized gift announcement to any shipment, making it a great gift option for birthdays, care packages or “just because.”
How We Tested
To ensure we give the service a good test run, we purchased three months of pickle deliveries. Each month’s box arrives in a cheery orange box with “Amazing Clubs” printed on the outside. Inside, the glass pickle jars are wrapped in brown packing paper. The box was neatly packed and the glass bottles were securely nestled in the packing material—a must for such a delicate shipment!
“All of the different pickles we received were from small producers that you won’t find on the shelf at your local grocery store,” notes tester Anna Lane. Over her three month subscription, she received a jar each of Farmstand Goods Bread and Butter Pickles, Maine Homestead Dill Pickles, Mountain Girl Pickles Garlic Dill Pickles, Triple B Farms Kickles, State 28 Farm Baby Dill Pickles and Anna Mary’s Million Dollar Pickles. Overall, Anna was smitten with the selections.

“My pickle-loving teenager loved all of the flavors that we tried, though the Million Dollar Pickles were by far the family favorite,” she says. It’s also worth considering that given these are small brands, you’re not just enjoying cucumber pickles—you may be opening up a whole new world of delicious offerings.
“Pickle clubs emphasize that they offer variety, but they almost exclusively focus on styles and flavors of cucumber pickles,” notes Julie. “And there’s a whole garden’s worth of vegetables and even fruit that taste delicious when pickled. The company that makes the club’s pickle pick of the month might also sell pickled asparagus and beans, relishes and salsas, even mustards and hot sauces. A pickle club could be the gateway to a whole shelf of tasty artisan condiments in your fridge.”
Anna does note that because these are not your standard jarred pickles from the grocery store, they are a bit on the pricey side. You only get two jars of pickles in each box, and considering that the box costs almost $40 per month, that’s around $20 per jar. That said, this pickle of the month subscription is actually one of the least expensive snack subscription options we’ve seen. Plus, you get free shipping, which significantly lowers the cost per shipment.

Product Comparison

Unlike something like a cookie of the month club, pickle subscriptions aren’t all that easy to find. We identified two other reputable options: Pickle Licious and Month Club Store’s Pickle Club. Unfortunately, Pickle Licious orders are currently on hold until the fall, so we focused our comparison on Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club vs. Month Club Store’s Pickle Club.
Here are some comparisons between the two clubs:
- Size: Both the Amazing Clubs and Month Club Store’s pickle clubs offer two standard-sized jars of pickles per shipment. The Month Club Store’s pickle club offers an alternative single-jar option as well for folks who prefer smaller shipments.
- Selections: Amazing Clubs’ pickle club commits to choosing small-batch, premium pickle brands. Each pick is all-natural and comes from specialty and award-winning producers, so these aren’t the pickles found in grocery stores. Month Club Store’s pickle club does include some grocery store brands like Suckerpunch and McClure’s. The latter service offers a “no sweet” option. However, selecting this option might result in two jars of the same pickles in a shipment rather than two different jars.
- Price: The Amazing Clubs option is a bit pricier at just over $95 for a three-month subscription compared to the Month Club Store’s $70 three-month subscription.
- Value: Overall, we find the Amazing Clubs option a better value, since the pickles included are boutique, hard-to-find brands. While the Month Club Store subscription may very well send some excellent pickles, the prospect of receiving a jar of grocery store pickles at such a high price point is disappointing.
- Shipping: Both pickle subscriptions offer free shipping.
Final Verdict
Overall, Anna had a fantastic experience testing the Amazing Clubs Pickle of the Month Club. After hearing her rave about the service, we can’t wait to snag a subscription for ourselves. While it’s a bit on the pricey side, there’s truly no better way to try out small-batch pickles from boutique brands across the U.S. Plus, the included newsletter is a fun addition for folks who want to learn more about these delicious treats!
