I’ve had the same KitchenAid stand mixer for more than 20 years. It has followed me through several cities, many moves, countless birthday cakes and what probably amounts to an actual mountain of chocolate chip cookies. And throughout its journey in all my kitchens, it’s always held a permanent, prominent space on my counter. That’s partly for convenience, of course, but also because, after two decades, I still love looking at it.
KitchenAid has always understood that particular appeal. The brand regularly releases colors and designs that make a workhorse appliance feel a little more like kitchen decor, from its annual Color of the Year to limited Design Series mixers. Its newest Design Series release, though, puts the biggest visual upgrade somewhere unexpected: the bowl.
The new KitchenAid Design Series Luminaire Stand Mixer pairs a French-blue mixer with a fluted glass bowl and, rather spectacularly, its own integrated bowl light. Yes, KitchenAid has now given its stand mixer mood lighting.

What is the New KitchenAid Stand Mixer?
The 2026 Design Series Luminaire is a 5-quart-tilt-head stand mixer in a new shade called Blue Peppercorn, a muted French blue with a textured crinkle finish, color-matched trim band and polished metallic accents. The new color is certainly beautiful, but the bowl is what makes this mixer special.
Rather than KitchenAid’s familiar stainless steel bowl, the Luminaire comes with a fluted bowl made from hardened glass. An integrated light shines through the glass while the mixer is running, illuminating the ingredients inside and casting the bowl’s fluted pattern onto the counter.
The light isn’t entirely decorative, either. Because the bowl is transparent and illuminated, you can keep an eye on what’s happening inside while the mixer does its thing. Anyone who has ever stopped a mixer, scraped down the bowl and discovered a stubborn pocket of flour at the bottom can probably see the appeal.
The hardened glass is designed for everyday kitchen use, including jobs like softening butter and tempering chocolate. The mixer also comes with dishwasher-safe accessories: a Double Flex Edge Beater, flat beater, dough hook and wire whip.
Still, there’s no pretending practicality is the point here. KitchenAid made a stand mixer bowl that glows. It’s allowed to be dazzling.

At $700, the Luminaire is more an investment than an impulse buy. But considering the KitchenAid already sitting on my counter has been there since 2005 and shows no signs of retiring, I’d say the investment is worth it.
