Dunkin’ Is Testing Its Most Over-the-Top Drink Yet
Dunkin' just took drink sizes to a whole new level.
Fast-food drink sizes have been creeping upward for decades, but every once in a while, a new offering appears that makes you pause and think we may have officially reached Parks and Recreation‘s “child-size soda” territory. Dunkin’s latest test might just qualify.
The coffee chain isn’t exactly new to outsized fan reactions. From seasonal drinks that develop near-cult followings to trending drops like the Banana Puddin’ Cloud Latte, Dunkin’ has a long track record of experimentation. Photos of a new item have been circulating online—prompting plenty of people to laugh, stare and immediately ask how they can get their hands on one.
What is Dunkin’s new drink bucket?

The experimental item is a 48-ounce drink bucket, which is—quite literally—a bucket filled with a Dunkin’ beverage.
Instead of the typical iced coffee cup, customers receive a handled plastic container that looks more like something you’d take to the beach than the drive-thru. The bucket can reportedly be filled with iced coffee, iced lattes or Dunkin’ Refreshers.
To be fair, Dunkin’ is no stranger to novelty containers. The brand has previously sold buckets filled with doughnut holes for seasonal promotions, so the leap from doughnut bucket to drink bucket may not have been as far-fetched internally as it appears to the rest of us.
Still, a 48-ounce iced coffee is…a lot of iced coffee, even by American beverage standards.
Where can you get a Dunkin’ drink bucket?
Dunkin’ hasn’t formally announced a nationwide rollout. The buckets appear to be part of a limited test, which means the company is likely watching customer reactions before deciding whether to expand the idea to more locations. For now, the oversized drinks are only available at a handful of Dunkin’ locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
If you live near a participating store, the giant drinks reportedly cost between $7 and $10, depending on the beverage you choose. Considering the bucket holds 48 ounces, that’s roughly the price of a couple of regular iced coffees—just delivered in a dramatically larger form.
While we wait to see if the bucket is here to stay, we’ll be figuring out how to transport it on our commutes. Buckled into the passenger seat, perhaps?
