Total Time Prep: 10 min. Cook: 10 min.
Yield 2 lattes
This artfully layered iced strawberry matcha latte is balanced, colorful and refreshing.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups chopped fresh strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup water, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon matcha (green tea powder)
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Honey or desired sweetener, optional
  • Sliced fresh strawberries, for garnish, optional

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, salt and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a simmer; cook until the strawberries soften and release their juices, 4-5 minutes. Mash lightly with a fork. Remove from the saucepan; let cool completely.
  2. Meanwhile, combine matcha and the remaining 1/4 cup water in a glass measuring cup; whisk until smooth.
  3. Divide the strawberry mixture evenly between two tall glasses. Fill each glass halfway with ice. Slowly pour milk over the ice until the glass is three-quarters full. Using a spoon, carefully spoon the matcha mixture into each glass. Sweeten with honey, if desired. Garnish the rim with a sliced strawberry, if desired. Serve immediately.
