Fried Bologna Sandwich

This fried bologna sandwich is crispy, cheesy, old-school comfort food at its finest—the kind of low-effort lunch that somehow never goes out of style.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 slices bologna (1/4-in. thick)
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or mustard
  • 4 slices thick white bread, toasted
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 2 lettuce leaves

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add bologna slices; cook until edges are crisp, 1-2 minutes per side. Top two slices of bologna with a slice of American cheese each.
  2. Spread mayonnaise or mustard over toasted bread slices. Place a slice of bologna and cheese covered bologna over bottom slices. Top with tomato and lettuce, top with second slice of bread.
