Fire Crackers

Alabama fire crackers are a beloved southern snack made with saltines, crushed red pepper flakes and ranch seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups olive oil
  • 2 packages (1 ounce each) ranch dip mix
  • 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 16 ounces saltines (4 sleeves)

Directions

  1. In a gallon zip-top plastic bag, combine olive oil, ranch seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes and pepper. Seal; knead to evenly combine the mixture.
  2. Add the crackers to the bag. Seal; turn the bag to evenly coat the crackers. Let sit at room temperature at least 6 hours or until the mixture has been absorbed into the crackers.
  3. Preheat the oven to 250°. Arrange the crackers in a even layer on a 15x10x1-in. rimmed baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly toasted. Let cool completely.
