Did you know you can bake a pie crust in a slow cooker? May this slow-cooker ham and Gruyere quiche recipe be all the proof you need.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
- 9 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- Optional: minced fresh parsley and chives
Directions
- Place a piece of parchment paper into a 7-quart slow cooker. It should be big enough to cover the bottom and go up the sides. Unroll the pie crust and add to the slow cooker. I like to pinch the sides where there is extra crust for a prettier finished look.
- Add the eggs, whipping cream, diced ham, cheese, salt, pepper and onion to a large bowl. Mix until combined (save 1 to 2 ounces of cheese for the top). Pour the egg mixture into the slow cooker.
- Place the lid on your slow cooker and cook on high for 2 hours; you will know it's done when the center is firm.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and replace the lid. Once the cheese is melted, lift your quiche from the slow cooker, place it on a cute dish with parsley and chives, if desired, and enjoy!
I have a running recipe list on my phone called The Holy Grail List. This ham and Gruyere cheese quiche is at the top. It takes 15 minutes to put together, and it’s the perfect set-it-and-forget comfort food that blends savory ham with a hint of nutty sweetness from the cheese. The easy cleanup makes this a no-brainer for me, especially when hosting brunch or breakfast. I hope you love it as much as we do! —Elise Jesse, Cincinnati, Ohio
