Copycat Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

These copycat Bonefish Grill bang bang shrimp tacos have everything you love about the restaurant dish, from the sweet and spicy coating to the creamy cilantro-lime sauce, all made in your own kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound uncooked shrimp (26-30 per pound), peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha chili sauce
  • Oil for deep-fat frying
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • Thinly sliced green onions, optional
  • 8 flour tortillas (6 inches)
  • CILANTRO LIME SAUCE:
  • 1 small avocado, cubed
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 medium limes, zested and juiced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine shrimp and buttermilk. Let stand 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, chili sauce and sriracha.
  3. Drain shrimp. Add cornstarch to a shallow dish. Dip shrimp in cornstarch to coat both sides; shake off excess.
  4. In an electric skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 375°. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown, 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Add shrimp to bowl with sauce. Stir gently to coat.
  5. For cilantro-lime sauce, add all ingredients to the bowl of a food processor or blender; process until smooth.
  6. Serve shrimp in tortillas and top with lettuce, tomato, green onion and cilantro-lime sauce.
