Cantaloupe Paloma

Total Time Prep: 15 min.
Yield 1 cocktail
When you think of cantaloupe, you might not think of cocktails or juice. But this cantaloupe paloma really is worth the squeeze.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cubed cantaloupe
  • Lime wedge and salt, for the rim
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 ounce tequila
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • Club soda
  • Cantaloupe balls, for garnish

Directions

  1. Place cantaloupe and a splash of cold water in a high-powered blender. Puree until smooth; strain through a fine mesh strainer. Measure 2 ounces; place the remaining juice in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for another use, if needed.
  2. Line the rim of a highball glass with a lime wedge. Dip in salt. Fill three-quarters full with ice.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway full with ice. Add 1 ounce cantaloupe juice, tequila, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake until chilled and frothy, 15-20 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass. Top with club soda; garnish with cantaloupe balls. Serve immediately.
