This bruleed banana peanut butter pie is an ode to my daughter's (and Elvis') favorite sandwich.
Ingredients
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 6 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 graham cracker crust (9 inches)
- 3 large bananas, sliced
- 3 tablespoons turbinado (washed raw) sugar
Directions
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in sugar and peanut butter. Gradually add milk. Fold in whipped topping; spoon into crust.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight. Before serving, layer sliced bananas in concentric circles over filling, overlapping to cover all filling. Sprinkle with sugar.
- To caramelize topping with a kitchen torch, hold torch flame about 2 in. above surface and rotate it slowly until sugar is evenly caramelized.
- To caramelize topping using a broiler, preheat broiler to high. Broil 3-4 in. from heat until sugar is caramelized, 2-3 minutes.
