These juicy Asian turkey meatballs are baked in the oven and glazed in a sweet and savory sauce. They make a perfect flavorful, yet easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions, plus more for garnish
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh gingerroot
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- SAUCE:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- FOR SERVING:
- Hot cooked rice, for serving
- Thinly sliced green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°. Line a 15x10x1-in. baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together ground turkey, egg, bread crumbs, green onion, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and sesame oil. Scoop 2 tablespoonfuls and roll into balls; line 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, lime juice, honey, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic powder. Transfer 1/4 cup of the sauce to a separate bowl; set aside for serving.
- Brush meatballs with the sauce mixture. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until the meatballs are fully cooked.
- Serve meatballs over cooked rice; garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with reserved sauce.
